Corporate Announcements/Results/Events/Policy • For the quarter ended 31st March, 2009 Gujarat Alkalies declared an increase of 17.60% in its net profits to Rs 215.80 million from Rs 183.50 million reported in the same quarter last year. The company’s net sales jumped 13.43% to Rs 3469.90 million in comparison to the corresponding period last year. • For the quarter ended 31st March, 2009 Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company reported a sharp fall of 27.97% in net profits to Rs 155 million from Rs 215.20 million in the same quarter previous year. Economic News/Event • For the week ended 26th June, 2009 India’s foreign exchange reserves increased by $ 932 million to $ 264.584 billion as per a weekly statistical supplement released by the Reserve Bank of India. • The Indian government has announced partially lifting a ban on wheat exports. Under this, the government has allowed export of 9 lakh tones of the grain by government-owned trading agencies.
